It was days before Christmas when we planned to trek the Sanchez Peak. I was originally invited by one of my beshies but i was not able to join them because I was very busy preparing for the Christmas eve.

On Christmas day, one of my friends from elementary messaged me if I am available for a mini-reunion. I suggested that we hike Sanchez Peak for a change and also because I want it off my bucket list.

"Odontectomy is the extraction of an embedded tooth and consists in the removal of the bone surrounding the tooth before applying the necessary force for the extraction. Basically, odontectomy represents the surgical extraction of the tooth which is totally or partially included in the bone."

I had to go to the clinic by 11AM to get the drug prescription I needed for the procedure.

I returned to the clinic by 1PM.

The nurse required me to take the meds before the surgery. I had to take prednisone 30mg at 1:30pm.
Then after an hour, by 2:30PM, I took, mefenamic acid, tranexamic acid and clindamycin.

The dentist had finished the last patient she had.

By 3:00PM my surgery went on.

The assistant nurse put something around my mouth, It was a solution that numbs your skin. (Funny thing happened that time was the assistant told me “maam, close lang po natin”. I thought she was referring to my eyes so I closed it. Then I start feeling something around my mouth so I shut it and opened my eyes. HAHAHA. Dumb ariane. She was referring to my mouth pala.

After feeling numb, the dentist already approached the dental chair, and asked me to open my mouth. She saw I haven’t gargled yet so I was so embarrassed but she meant something different about the gargling thing, I thought I will gargle a water solution, but to my surprise, it was a betadine-like solution. IT WAS SO GROSS!

The dentist assembled the anesthesia thingy, I’m not afraid of needles so it was just meh~

She started injecting the anesthetic and it was a bit painful, especially when she pushed it deeper. I guess I had five shots around the tooth.

While waiting for complete numbness, we watched a show on the TV.

The dentist asked if I felt anything while she's doing something on my mouth. I’m aware that shes putting pressure on the tooth but I really don’t feel anything so I mouthed no.

And It began.....

The scalpel thing, the slicing of my gums thing. But it was not felt. Really, I was just sitting and watching the show.

After her thing, the dentist joked “Ariane labas na ang kaluluwa mo” I faint a smile. “Mumog ka muna” On my thoughts were “NO DOC, it’s GROSS”

I gargled the gross-solution and when I spit it out. The liquid went everywhere. I cannot control my mouth! Hahahaha, that was so funny. That’s what the local aneathesia does to your mouth. Hahahahha

All the boring removing of my tooth was done.

Stitching part!

The dentist got a hard  time on her last stitch “Mas mahirap pa magtahi ariane oh”  sabay tayo then the sticthes were done!

YEY!

My odontectomy is finally done!

I thanked everyone in the clinic but I guess they didn't understand what i said, I had gauze on  my mouth. HAHAHA

-------------------------
The post-treatment was the worse.
All those medicines and oral gel I had to take and apply sucks.

It's my first time travelling with my friends and it's quite a long preparation; we booked the tickets way back January (It's a promo fare) and the flight is on July. I already applied for my vacation leave beforehand since I don't want any hindrances. xD

I was working in Cebu back then so i needed to travel back to GenSan.

July 07, 2016 - GENSAN to ILOILO

There are two ports in Caticlan that goes to Boracay, one is the Caticlan Jetty Port (where the Ceres Bus will drop you), the other one is at Tabon Port (if the weather is not good, this is where you should be headed).

Since it rained on that day, we headed to Tabon Port and paid the neccessary fees. Boat ride to Boracay Island is 10mins.

We rode a tricycle from Boracay Port to Orchids Resort(Station 3) where we'll be staying.

JARO CATHEDRAL, TED'S BATCHOY, SM ILOILO

Last stop before going home is ILOILO City, our original plan was to buy pasalubongs at SM City but the jeepney we rode dropped us to where JARO CATHEDRAL is. We grabbed the chance and visited the Cathedral, I also got the chance to light up some candles and thank God for the safe trip. This was my first time in the Cathedral so I made a wish. :)

The famous La Paz Batchoy of Iloilo.

Please don't wear shorts. :)

Overall budget for the trip was: 5,593 ~ 6,000php.

TIPS:
  • Don't pack too many things.
  • Stay at Station 3 where most of the cheapest places are located. You won't be spending too much time on your room anyways.
  • Act like locals. Try buying things on their local markets and eat on one of the local carenderias.

So that's it! See you on my next trip.
Want to visit Paris after Amsterdam and Greece? Cebu can also offer that to you. This mini-Paris-sh (LOL to this word) place is called La Vie Parisienne which means "Parisian Life" in English, located conveniently at Lahug, Cebu City. This french bakery offers wines, good pastries and cheese; an ideal place for hanging-out with friends and colleagues.

I preferably visit this place at night after my shift. Their outdoor dining area glows at night with their cherry blossom-like trees.

Team MSU
Team GenSan. Credits to Zsara.
On the other side of their outdoor dining is a huge wooden hammock. Also a great spot to hangout with your friends because it is cushioned and surrouneded by pillows. Gorgeous spot of the place.

Hadn't got a chance to capture the hammock. So here we are taking a glimpse of the dining dome.

Probably the most photographed place in La Vie is their Wine Cellar:

Torn between wacky pose and a serious pose. LOL.
The place is quite small and packed with different kind of wines. I personally love the table and stool in the middle of the room; perfect for a good photograph of the cellar.

We had a chance of soloing the place.

Wine enthusiast. hahaha. Just kidding.

Overall, if you are in Cebu, i would totally recommend you to pass by here. Never miss the beautiful and cozy ambiance of La Vie Parisienne.

'Till my next adventure. :)

I just want to share it here since sometimes, i mean, most of the time, the topic he shares in his emails are like bullets intended to be shot right through me. ðŸ”« This is not exactly what happened to me but whatever. HAHAHA

To cut my dramatic introduction short, here's the story:

Moving On Is Hard to Do (Lalo na Kung Hindi Naging Kayo!)
By Maymay Salvosa

"If you hold back on the emotions 3⁄4 if you don't allow yourself to go all the way through them 3⁄4 you can never get to being detached, you're too busy being afraid. You're afraid of the pain, you're afraid of the grief. You're afraid of the vulnerability that loving entails....”
- Mitch Albom

Masayang kausap.

At bingo! May nakilala akong ganyan. Complete attendance lahat ng hinahanap ko! Bonus pa na magkasundo kami sa pagsusulat at sa team sa PBA (never say die, men!) Every time magka-text kami, ang saya! Like, really!

Sareeee!)

Pero may problema. Bading? Nope! May girlfriend? Wala. May gustong iba? Hmmm... Kinda. It's complicated. Handa ka na ba?
Bibitinin muna kita. Kanta muna tayo.

Nasa seminaryo. Magpapari siya!
Anak ng frog! Minsan na nga lang maiinlababo, barado pa. Tubero please!
Ang sakit! Like, really!
Imagine, I've been spending some time, thinking I'll be alright (the correct words are "thinking of you and I”)... Don't know if I could really stay here tonight....

You know, ung binola- bola, kaya asa-dong asa-do ako. I just fell for him. And it was hard.

I really thought it was him already. Gosh, how can something so wrong feel so right all along? Hehe.) How and where am I supposed to find somebody else like him?

Noong inakala kong nakaka-move on na 'ko, may nagpabasa sa 'kin ng "By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” ni Paolo Coelho. Naalala raw niya kasi ako sa kuwento. Patola naman ako. Hindi man lang ako nagtanong kung bakit.

Waaah!

I know of some people who invested years and years together but ended up separating.
A few others risked a treasured friendship only to fail in their romantic relationship.
May ilan na hindi na talaga naka-move on from their last heartbreak.

Looking back, I realize that my "falling in love” experience with Mr. Seminarian taught me a lot of things. I fell in love, but that wasn't real love. Masyado lang akong na-amaze sa personality niya. But of course, hindi ko naman agad naintindihan 'yan.
I've come to understand that not being with Mr. Seminarian is not the end of the world naman pala. I fell in love, alright.

I was hurt, okay. It didn't end up the way I wanted to, fine. But I am grateful because through that phase, I learned that I am more capable of loving than I thought I was. Stronger than I knew. More beautiful than what the mirror says. (Ano raw?!) Hindi madaling tanggapin siyempre. Like all essential matters, healing takes time.

Alam niyo ba yung congenital analgesia?

Imagine what lack of pain can do to our lives? Argh.

Pain teaches us to love more. Pain stretches our capacity to empathize. Pain opens our hearts for bigger things. May darating, may aalis. Pero Siya, nandyan pa rin. Walang iwanan.

The thing is, mahirap mag-move on, pero mas mahirap maging stuck.

Learn from it and then walk towards your healing.

Let me close this chapter with the chorus of Laura Story's song entitled Blessings.
"What if Your (God's) blessings come through rain drops What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?”

Move forward, friend. God is faithful. There's still so much ahead. He has so much in store for you.

Muni-muni Moves:
Get a Bible. Read Jeremiah 29:11. Basahin with feelings. Believe with an open heart.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”"

— Jeremiah 29:11

- This bible verse is actually my phone's wallpaper. :)

From Confused to Moving On:
Jesus, I surrender to You my hurts. Help me to let go of them and to hold on to Your promises. May this pain bring out Your purpose for me. Amen.
This excerpt is taken from Status: Confused! by Maymay Salvosa

I'm getting addicted to this version of La Vie En Rose. I actually first heard of this song in How I Met Your Mother when the MOTHER sang it while playing her ukelele. Aw. Too much feels.

LYRICS:
Hold me close and hold me fast
This magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me heaven sighs

And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose.
When you press me to your heart

I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak, angels sing from above

Everyday words seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me

And life will always be la vie en rose.

Courtesy of Lyrics Freak
I wished you the best of all this world could give
And I told you when you left me
There's nothing to forgive
But I always thought you'd come back, tell me all you found was
Heartbreak and misery
It's hard for me to say
Im jealous of the way
You're happy without me
~Jealous~

Before deciding to try the downstream canyoneering here in Cebu. We took time to research some facts about it and the cheaper way to experience it. We've watched it featured in Drew Arellano's travel TV show "Byahe ni Drew" which definitely encouraged us to try it over the holidays.

How we get there:

From Mandue, we took a taxi to South Bus Terminal around 4AM, buses are not enough that day to accommodate passengers who will travel back to their provinces (it's a long weekend) so we headed to a very long line of passengers waiting for a bus. We lined up for the BATO via BARILI bus which will drop us in Badian, Cebu.

South Bus Terminal

Bus fare costs around two hundred pesos and it took us almost 3hrs of travel. We were dropped in front of the Matutinao Badian Church where tour guides are awaiting for tourists. If you only plan to visit the Falls, you don't need to hire a tourist guide since it already has a trail leading to the falls and you can reach it by foot.

Since our plan was canyoneering, we took a tourist guide (Kuya Japeth) to help us in our canyoneering adventure. They provided us 3 guides for the tour.

To start with, we changed to our proper canyooneering outfits which they provide:
1.) Life jackets
2.) Helmets
3.) Shoes
4.) Dry bag for our valuable things.

After getting ready, we rode a motorcycle (provided by the guides) from the  Matutinao Church to Kanlaob river of Alegria. It took us around 15mins of travel.

Upon arriving at the site, we decided to eat light breakfast first since we haven't eaten yet and we're afraid that we might collapse not because of the fright but because of hunger. hahaha

Downstream canyoneering trail will start in the Kanlaob river of Alegria to Kawasan Falls of Badian.

The first jump was a bit high and narrow. All of us were afraid to jump but the guide told us that we don't have any choice but to jump. They also told us some tips before jumping, we must first put our right foot in front of us like we are stepping on the air then let the gravity pull us down.

It was our Project Manager who did it first (Hi sir Jas!), it was like he doesn't even care jumping off the cliff but he told us after that he was really scared and his thoughts was "bahala na maunsa".

When it was my turn to jump off the cliff, i was very hesitant and afraid that i might fell on the stones since it was a very narrow cliff. The tour guides assured me that it won't happen as long as i jump right and just focus on the water.

To convince myself to jump, I shouted to the tour guide at the river waiting for me "Kuya, dili baya ko kabalo mulangoy, bantaya ko ha" then I stepped my right foot and let the gravity do the rest.

The feeling of falling took so long. I felt like i jumped in a 50-storey building. hahahaha. Just kidding, i'm exaggerating things.

The water  hit me hard, i was submerged deep in the water and i felt the tour guide's hand reaching for my life vest to lift me.

The next jumps was not that intense compare to the first jump, however, it was a bit higher. It took us around three hours of jumping, walking and swimming in the turquoise water of Kanlaob river before reaching the magnificent Kawasan Falls.

This video is shot using Supremo action camera.

If you're still young, active and earning, I really recommend you to try this adventure. It's worth your money and time.

Finally! Selfie with the falls after the exhausting canyoneering adventure.

The total budget for the trip was:
  • Fare - 400 (back and forth)
  • Tourguide - 1000 (7persons)
  • Food - 150/meal (brunch + dinner)
  • Total - 1550.00

Have fun!

After exploring the mini-Amsterdam of Cebu, our next stop was the mini-Greece ~ the Temple of Leah.

It took us around 20 minutes of travel time from Amsterdam to Greece (how cool right? hahaha). We arrived at around 6:00PM which is not so good for taking pictures but the view of Cebu lights were astonishing.

Kinda blurry. i'm not really good in taking pictures.

The temple of Leah is a tribute of Teodoro Adarna, grandfather of actress Ellen Adarna and the owner of the Queensland hotels, to his wife Leah Albino-Adarna.

"This Temple was constructed in the year 2012 A.D. as a symbol of my undying love for her and my ceaseless devotion to Leah Villa Albino-Adarna, my wife of 53 years. I adopted an architectural and structural design that can withstand time and still be appreciated for a millennium so this Temple will become a landmark of Cebu City where future generations of the Adarna clan coming from her can come and trace their roots and heritage." as stated in their facebook page.

The Temple is regularly open and we did not pay any entrance fee. The finishing touches of the temple is ongoing and i doubt when the over-all contruction ends but still, tourists continue to drop by each day.

Astounding ceiling of their rest rooms.

Found this David Statue near the rest room. Not Safe for Work photo. HAHAHA

For how many months of staying here in Cebu, I've only visited some of its good places and i'm still craving for more eye-fulfilling sites and sceneries that will feed the adventurous side of me. I've asked one of my Cebu friends where would be the next good place to visit and she strongly recommended to visit Sirao garden in Busay which wondered me why and got a reply from her of "Just go".

How to get there:
We rode a habal-habal motorcycle at JY Lahug with a fare of 150 pesos back and forth (don’t be fooled by drivers asking for overpriced fare) and took us around 30mins of travel time.

Upon arriving at the place, it did not seem to look as how it was on the photos that we saw. It was a little bit small but the view and the colorful flowers (almost plastic-like) were worth the travel.

Entrace fee is Php30.00 and you can now start taking picture-perfect photos for instagram/facebook and other social media accounts.

Most of the flowers planted were Celosia which yielded red, pink, orange and yellow colors which when bloomed in rows resembles fire. Celosia is Greek for “burning.”

with travel buddy Michelle ;)
Mini windwill. Amsterdam feels.

After Sirao Garden, we headed to TEMPLE OF LEAH, which added us an additional 50pesos each to our  habal-habal driver. Our total fare was 200pesos each.
